OLW 40- Book Bear

I'm really fascinated by the whole idea behind One Layer cards. When I first started card-making years ago, that's what I did - that was well before the rise and rise of paper-crafting. I can't believe it's now a "challenge" and, you know what, it sure is! Keeping it clean and simple is no mean feat when there are so many tools and techniques to tempt you.

I've got to say Simplicity by Late Blossom is most inspiring in that regard. I discovered this blog via Danielle Daws via Just Add Ink. From Simplicity, there's lots more links to inspire so drop by there if you can.

'nuff of all that background stuff, here's my card for One Layer Wednesday #40, hosted by Styles Ink. The challenge was to use 2 image stamps only once, no sentiments, bling, ribbons, etc.

This bear is a companion stamp to this girl bear with chocolates used in this CASE study challenge. I've had these stamps for ages, I mean ages, such that these companies are probably not around anymore. Anyway, this OL card is so simple and I love its simplicity and cleanness.

stamps:
Wilson...love sonnets (Uptown Rubber Stamps), Wedding Heart (The Creative Stamp Collection)
inks:
Versafine black, Stampin Up Cherry Cobbler, Tim Holtz distress inks: shabby shutters, broken china, frayed burlap, old paper, antique linen

I stamped the bear first, masked using post-it (idea from Jennifer McGuire), then stamped the heart. I used the distress inks to colour in - idea from J McGuire again: ink craft sheet and use as water colour.
